Pancake breakfast, 9 a.m., the Iowa Arboretum. Eat pancakes and sausage and drink orange juice and coffee till noon. The cost is $7. Children 5 and under are free. No registration is needed. The Iowa Arboretum is located two-and-a-half miles west and two miles south of Luther in Boone County, 1875 Peach Ave. near Madrid.

Dinner and flea market, 11:30 a.m., St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bouton. Miscellaneous items will be offered for sale after the mid-day dinner, with all proceeds benefiting projects by the Women of St. Paul’s Church.
Tuesday, March 18
Free breakfast, 8:30 a.m., Dallas County Hospital. The Dallas County Hospital Foundation sponsors a free breakfast for the public in the community room of the hospital. Along with the breakfast buffet, attendees will get information on the healthcare services available in Perry, updated information on the impact the DCH Foundation has made in the Perry area and additional health information. Wednesday Fellowship, 11:15 a.m., McCreary Community Building. Hotel Pattee owner Jay Hartz will discuss his background in the hospitality industry and his plans for the Perry landmark. The program is followed by dinner at noon. You do not need to be a member of the Recreation Center to attend. The cost of the dinner is $5.

St. Patrick’s Delightful Dining, 5:30, St. Patrick’s School gym. The St. Patrick’s youth group provides an opportunity to share a spaghetti dinner in this unique event. The Delightful Dining menu will list several choices similar to those found on the menu of an elegant restaurant. No matter what you order, however, you will receive salad, spaghetti, bread sticks, drink and dessert. This dinner offers an elegant dining experience and the opportunity to make a donation toward the youth group’s service trip to Kentucky and to a Steubenville, Ohio, conference. Obamacare enrollment help, 9 a.m., Dallas County Hospital South Atrium. Visiting Nurse Services (VNS) of Iowa hosts an additional Obamacare enrollment event, providing assistance to individuals enrolling in the new health insurance marketplace. The VNS Navigators will be offer on-site help to individuals seeking to understand health coverage options and enroll in a Marketplace plan that meets their needs and fits their budget. Appointments are encouraged and may be made by calling 515-288-1516. Navigators estimate the enrollment process will take about 45 minutes, provided individuals bring all necessary documentation.

Perry Fine Arts concert, 2 p.m., Perry Performing Arts Center, 1200 18th St. The Al Welsh Orchestra will play music of the big band era along with many other famous dance tunes. Fine Arts concerts are free and open to the public. Donations accepted. The Performing Arts Center is handicapped accessible.

Grafting workshop, 6:30 p.m., Dallas County Conservation Department at Forest Park Museum in Perry. Patrick O’Malley, Commercial Horticulture Specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, will be the presenter-instructor for the workshop. Transition Fair, 5:30 p.m., Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School, 801 Nile Kinnick Drive South in Adel. Teachers, parents and students aged 14 and older are invited to attend a transition fair to learn about resources and information to help students with special needs successfully transition to post-secondary pursuits. Residents from Perry and other area districts are invited to attend. There will be a free meal and free childcare provided.
