This year, 57 Dallas County organizations applied for grants from Dallas County Foundation. They were able to award 27 grants at the Grant Awards Banquet on Tuesday, April 24 at Country Lane Lodge in Adel.
The grant recipients were announced earlier in April and the grants totaled $135,803, including $94,000 from Dallas County Foundation and $41,803 from Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation, with funds coming from Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson.
Scott Cirksena, the Mayor of Clive and the Director of Development for the Dallas County Foundation, was a founding board member of the Dallas County Foundation.
“We came together as a loosely-interested coalition of people, of citizens across the County that have an interest of doing something better,” Cirksena said during the event in Adel.
In 2007, the Dallas County Foundation granted $50,000 to 11 project, and has grown to where it is today, at over $135,000. As of this year, the Dallas County Foundation has granted $1,101,150 to 216 projects in Dallas County.
