Greene County rallied for 3-2 win over Perry in non-conference volleyball Monday by outscoring the host Jayettes, 40-16, over the final two games.

The Rams won the first game by a 25-18 margin, but the Jayettes rallied for wins of 25-22 and 25-22 in game two and three to threaten a 3-1 match win. Greene County rolled to a 25-12 game four victory to force a fifth game, which the guests handily won by a 15-4 margin.

Perry (7-29 overall) was led by 10 kills from Amy Marckres, with Ellie Nielsen adding seven kills and Claire Marburger and Victoria Hegstrom five kills apiece. Maggie Lowe fueled the offense by providing 23 assists.

Marburger had three total blocks at the net, with Julie Diw providing a team-best 15 digs.

Tori Miner was 16-of-16 serving with an ace, with Lowe 15-of-15 while Marburger was 11-of-12 with two aces behind the line.

The match was the final home appearance for Diw and Miner and fellow Jayette seniors Claudia Magana, Kayla Holland and Jenna Paul.

The Perry girls were coming off a 1-4 effort Saturday at the Knoxville Invite.

Perry fell to ADM, 21-10 and 21-9, in pool play, with Grinnell (21-14, 21-13) and Pella Christian (21-13, 21-12) also downing the Jayettes in pool play. Perry rallied for a 15-25, 25-22, 15-9 win over Albia in bracket play before being upended by Grinnell, 25-17 and 25-9, in their final match of the event.

Nielsen had 21 combined kills for Perry, with Miner adding nine kills and Diw eight. Lowe finished with six kills and Grace Marburger with five, with Marckres tallying four kills and Hegstrom two. Hegstrom led the team with three blocks, with Grace Marburger making two blocks while Diw, Lowe and Marckres added one block each.

Diw’s nine digs led Perry, with Lowe adding eight digs, Miner seven and Nielsen six. Lowe had 31 of the 41 assists tallied by the Jayettes.

Miner served 27-of-28 with six aces, with Grace Marburger 24-of-26 while Hegstrom was 20-of-24 with six aces. Lowe was 15-17-2 behind the line, with Diw and Nielsen both 11-16-2 while Marckres was 8-8-1, Mariah Duffy 7-of-7, Mary Wilhelmi 3-of-4 and Holland 5-of-7.

Perry traveled to Carlisle for a Raccoon River Conference tilt Oct. 17. The Wildcats swept to a 3-0 win behind scores of 25-8, 25-21 and 25-10.

Marckres had 11 kills and Claire Marburger seven, with Nielsen adding two kills and Hegstrom one. Lowe provided all 17 assists, with Diw making seven of Perry’s 12 digs while Grace Marburger had a block.

Miner was 8-of-10 serving, with Claire Marburger 6-of-6 while Hegstrom and Marckres were both 6-of-7 with one ace apiece to lead the Jayettes behind the line.

Perry opens postseason play Monday when they travel to Boone to face the Toreadors at 7 p.m. The winner advances to play host No. 8 Webster City Thursday at 7 p.m.
